Interview with Marie L. Radford II

[Jag skriver detta inlägg på engelska så att även Marie L. Radford kan läsa vad jag skriver.]

This is a follow-up blog post to the one I posted last week about Professor Marie L. Radford’s visit to the University of Borås. While she was here, I had the chance to talk to her about the extensive research projects about reference services she has been involved in. In the mp3 file you can download here, she talks about the users and non-users of virtual reference services, in particular with a focus on chat services, which was studied in the project Seeking Synchronicity.

One of the examples Marie Radford mentioned of a successful chat reference service is the New Jersey QandANJ. As non-New Jersey residents, most of us won’t be able to take advantage of the service, but check out their YouTube contest for students to make promotion videos for the service!

Marie Radford is also active on a group blog with the goal to ensure "the health and relevance of libraries” called Library Garden. Have a look at her contributions there!

Linnéa has also blogged about the visit, read about her impressions at Nyttovärdering på bibliotek.
